This week in in class we discussed "Baghdad Burning" and Riverbends blog. Each member of the class was responsible for defining different terms through out the book. My term to define was Feminism. According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary Feminism is "the theory of the political, economic and social equality of the sexes". Does any one disagree with this definition or have anything to add on?
I agree with this statement. I also feel that it can stretch to the point that we not only want to be equal but reasons to why woman should be. Feminism is the power of woman around the world supporting one another to gain rights and respect that we should already have.
ReplyDeleteI would agree with the dictionary, but like Jenn had mentioned, I think that is should include the global support that women should have to have equal rights every where. I also think that feminism has to do with a woman herself and the confidence within herself to not put other women down for their beliefs or way of being.
