Did You Know that Dr. Maria Telkes is the first female to invent the solar heating system. Telkes was highly educated holding her doctoral degree in physical chemistry.  In 1948 Telkes built a heating system design for an experiment and it was places in a house in Dover, Massachusetts in which it provided solar heat.  Telkes was successful in her solar heating system and she went on to invent a distilling system for life rafts and a solar oven.

  1. I find that very interesting. No I did not know about Maria Telkes and in reading about her, she seems like a very distinguished female in the field of science and innovation. I think that something that has become so common, like solar heating, is a good way for women to pave the way for other women to be recognized just as much a she is.
